Hyderabad: Over 9.30 lakh students appeared for UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) on Sunday.
CBSE conducted the exam at 1,700 centres in 91 cities across the country. Around 4,09,439 male, 5,19,557 female candidates and three transgenders had registered for the exam. More than 75 per cent appeared for the exam.
The candidates wrote three papers — paper-I, general awareness, was common for all the candidates, while paper-II and III were conducted out of 84 subjects selected by the candidates. Additional time of 25 minutes was provided to differently-abled candidates for paper–I and II while 50 minutes additional time was provided during paper III.
The examination was conducted under the supervision of the chairperson, Anita Karwal, secretary Anurag Tripathi and other senior officers of CBSE. The board had deployed 2,091 observers and several invigilators.
S. Harsha, an aspirant from Hyderabad, said, “Of the three papers, paper-I was easy while paper-III was a bit difficult. This is my second attempt. I may clear the exam this time.”
