AP: YSRC chief to walk 3,000-km across 125 Assembly segments
IDUPULAPAYA (KADAPA): YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jaganmohan Reddy will begin his 3,000-km long Praja Sankalpa Yatra across the state on Monday.
It will cover 125 Assembly segments and is expected to last for six months during which Mr Reddy will address 180 public meetings.
The yatra will start in Idupulapaya in Kadapa district after Mr Reddy pays tribute to his father, Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s grave in Pulivendula. He will then address a public meeting before starting the padayatra. Idupulapaya is currently awash with party banners and flexis.
YSRC MP Avinash Reddy said Mr Jaganmohan will have lunch near Veeranna Gattupalli on Monday and stay the night near Vempalle.
“Tens of thousands of sympathisers and party workers will accompany the YSRC chief,” he said. YSRC leaders Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, Y.S. Konda Reddy and Y.S. Avinash Reddy are supervising arrangements for the padayatra in Kadapa district. Both, N. Chandrababu Naidu, who is Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and the late Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, former Chief Minister of erstwhile united Andhra Pradesh, were voted to power after they held these padayatras. Jaganmohan’s sister Sharmila also embarked on a padayatra when her brother was arrested, which marks the importance of these padayatras held for political ends.
The yatra is expected to last six months and the YSR Congress hopes it will put the state in poll mood, with 18 months to go before the next general election.
