Edappadi Palaniswami to brief PM on rain damage

Government to submit detailed memorandum.

Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam are likely to brief Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday about the damage caused by the rains that have been lashing Chennai and neighbouring districts. Palaniswami and Panneerselvam, who will welcome Modi at the INS Adyar here, are likely to meet him for a few minutes before they leave for an event. Sources said the Tamil Nadu Government would submit a detailed memorandum to Prime Minister Modi regarding the damage caused during the recent rains and seek funds from the Union Government.

Chennai received more than 57 cm rainfall in just about five days after the onset of the Northeast monsoon. The city came to a standstill last week after incessant rains affected normal life. Besides, the two leaders are also expected to discuss politics with Modi, who is coming to Chennai for the first time after the two factions of the AIADMK merged in August this year.
