Bengaluru: Spat with sub-inspector, 2 cops suspended
Bengaluru: Two policemen, attached to the Mahadevapura police station, were suspended after they allegedly abused the station police sub-inspector when he questioned them about not following the due procedure before releasing some accused people caught in a gambling case.
The alleged incident took place inside the Mahadevapura station on Saturday evening, and Assistant Sub-Inspector Amruthesh and Head Constable Jayakumar were suspended on Sunday, pending a departmental inquiry. They have been accused of hurling filthy abuses at Sub-Inspector Ashwath.

Around 8.30 pm, Sub-Inspector Ashwath came to the station, learnt about the incident and questioned the ASI and head constable why they let the accused go without following the procedure. The angry duo allegedly picked up a fight with the SI and hurled abuses at him. They reportedly told the SI that they had seen many such SIs and that he cannot do anything to them. They almost came to blows before other personnel at the police station intervened. Ashwath mentioned the incident in the station diary and left after informing DCP (Whitefield) Abdul Ahad about the scuffle.
"As the preliminary inquiry revealed that the ASI and head constable were at fault, they were suspended. ACP of Marathahalli subdivision has been directed to conduct an inquiry and submit a report. Based on the findings, further action will be taken against the two policemen," Mr Ahad said.
