Nearly 2000 women conductors of the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation have been given training in defensive techniques by expert karate masters at the zonal staff training college at Hakimpet.
Training College Principal G.R. Kiran said the defensive techniques boost the confidence of women conductors and they are better prepared to deal with unruly passengers if any on the RTC buses.
He said the training in karate is being given for the last two years and would continue, as it helps the employees to keep fit. The training in defensive techniques is given once in every 15 days.
