Odisha Headmaster Forgets Question Papers at Home, Students Wait at Exam Centre

BHUBANESWAR: In a strange incident, the headmaster (HM) of an Odisha school forgot to dispatch Class 10 half-yearly question papers to the exam centre on time. As a result, the students were made to wait for hours.

The bizarre incident was reported on Thursday from Sri Sri Pingaleswar Government High School in Mahangapada under Niali block in Cuttack district.

As per reports, it was the first day of the half-yearly exam on Thursday for Class X students. The exam was scheduled to start at 10 am in the morning.

As per the schedule, all the students had gathered at the exam centre from 9:30 am. However, there was no sight of the headmaster even as it clocked 10:30 am. Shockingly, he had kept the question papers at his residence and wasn’t coming to the school.

Later, the Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC) had to travel all the way to the HM’s house in Jagatsinghpur to bring the question papers. This led to severe delay in the starting of the examination, triggering outrage among the students and their guardians.

The students could not appear for the MIL exam that was scheduled in the first half. They could only appear for the English exam in the second half.

“Just because of his negligence, we could not appear for our MIL exam today. We could only sit for the second exam at 1:30 pm. We had studied for the MIL exam, and it has been cancelled now due to the HM’s negligence. He hardly comes to school and only makes a visit once in a week or once in a month,” alleged a student.

When contacted, the CRCC said that he had informed the Block Education Officer (BEO) about the incident and that necessary steps would be taken in this regard.
