Tahsildars’ booze party video goes viral

While Hassan deputy commissioner R. Girish has slapped notices on the tahsildars, giving them three days to respond to the video.

Hassan: Members of the Hassan BJP Yuva Morcha barged into an alleged “booze party” of six tahsildhars of Hassan district at the Inspection Bungalow in Holenarsipura taluk Friday night and recorded it on a video that went viral on Saturday.

While Hassan deputy commissioner R. Girish has slapped notices on the tahsildars, giving them three days to respond to the video, the district BJP Yuva Morcha president, Nagesh, who led the "raid" on their party and shot it on camera, was taken into custody by the Holenarsipura police along with five others for "creating a ruckus" at the Inspection Bungalow.

The tahsildhars of Holenarsipura, Sakleshpura, Alur and Hassan were having a sumptuous non-vegetarian dinner with some liquor to wash it down, when Nagesh and other members of the BJP Yuva Morcha barged in and began to take a video of the scene.

As an argument broke out between the officers and Yuva Morcha members, the police were called in and tahsildhar Srinivas directed them to take Nagesh and his associates into custody for unauthorized entry and creating a ruckus at the IB.

Sources said Nagesh and his associates were at the bungalow to meet BJP leader, Puttaswamy and on their way out, learnt about the tahsildhars' dinner and barged into the room they were dining in.

Nagesh, who was later released by the police, told reporters that he did not misbehave with the tahsildars and it was they who had created a ruckus upon his entry. He also alleged that he was slapped by a policeman in mufti.

Meanwhile, Mr Srinivas claimed the tahsildars were not having a booze party, but had only met for dinner. He said the Yuva Morcha members were trying to tarnish their image and he would take legal action in the matter.
