TIRUNELVELI: The All Indian Congress Committee (AICC) secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, Sanjay Dutt, appealed to the Nanguneri electorate to assess the performance and track record of the AIADMK government before voting.
Strongly coming down on the Edappadi K Palaniswami-led AIADMK government for its anti-people's policies, allegedly implemented on the decision of the BJP-led Central government, the AICC secretary, Sanjay Dutt added that the Chief Minister Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister, O Panneerselvam are the 'masks' of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home minister, Mr. Amit Shah.
The Congress secretary, who has been campaigning for the Congress candidate, Ruby Manoharan in the October 21 Nanguneri by-election since Monday, warned the electorate that every vote polled for AIADMK would indirectly go in favour of the BJP that is in collusion with the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu.
Blaming the state and the central governments of having no programme to resolve the unemployment issue, which is on the rise, Sanjai Dutt demanded a white paper on the inflow of investment for which MoUs were claimed to have been signed in the global investors' meets the Tamil Nadu government organised in 2015 and 2019. Snjay Dutt further added that the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister's foreign tour to attract fresh investments went futile. He also termed the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi's recent visit to the US as a 'big failure'.
"There is nothing to celebrate about Modi's US visit as it neither helped India's demand to America declaring Pakistan a terrorist state nor restore the "most favoured nation status of India, cancelled by Trump regime," said the AICC secretary in-charge of Tamil Nadu. The Congress leader appreciating the Tamil Nadu electorate for voting against dictatorship and corruption in the Lok Sabha elections, also hoped for a similar defeat for the AIADMk and its ally, the BJP, in the two by-elections at Vikiravandi and Nanguneri.
However, the national secretary of the AICC too was critical about the camping of 11 ministers at Nanguneri and suspected that the ministers' presence might have been aimed at influencing and intimidating the voters in favour of the ruling party.
