RSS affiliate VHP tries to revive Ramjanambhoomi issue

A delegation of the saints also met President Kovind with their demand of construction of the temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya.

New Delhi: With the election season about to commence and Lok Sabha polls just around the corner, the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh's (RSS) affiliate, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Friday tried to revive the Ramjanambhoomi issue when its 'Uchchatar Adhikar Samiti (high powered committee)' of saints and seers suggesting that they have no faith in the Supreme Court to deliver a favourable judgement and the Narendra Modi government should call a joint session of Parliament to pass an ordinance for construction of a temple in Ayodhya. A delegation of these saints also met President Ram Nath Kovind with their demand of construction of the temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya at the earliest and are expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra also. A suggestion from one of the seers, sources said, was that visit to the Ram mandir by the Prime Minister would dispel doubts among “Rambhakts,” who think that the BJP led central government is not serious about the issue.
