Bengaluru: Ex-cop's son, 3 others on run after assaulting man

The police said that the CCTV had recorded the whole incident and the footage has been sent to FSL.

BENGALURU: In a yet another incident of VIP hooliganism, a former DYSP’s son and his three friends have been accused of assaulting a man over a petty issue. The incident took place on September 8, but has come to light only now.

Suman, son of retired DYSP Konareddy, and a resident of Jakkur and his friends Ashok, Harikrishna and Vikram have been accused of assaulting Yuvraj, a resident of Kammagaddanahalli.

Yuvraj’s friend, Karthik has filed a complaint with the HIgh Grounds police against Suman and his friends. He stated that they had brutally assaulted Yuvraj with beer bottles at a hotel on Race Course Road.

Yuvraj had sustained grievous injuries and was admitted to Ramaiah hospital. In his complaint, Karthik has stated that on September 8, he and Yuvraj had gone to Renaissance Hotel at around 12:45 am.

Before leaving they went to the washroom. There Yuvraj’s hand accidentally brushed against Suman’s. An upset Suman entered into a verbal duel with Yuvraj.
Suman then began assaulting Yuvraj and he was joined by Ashok, Harikrishna and Vikram, who brought beer bottles and started hitting Yuvraj, he stated. Karthik further stated that when he tried to help Yuvraj, they brandished a knife and threatened to kill him.

Soon after they left, and Karthik immediately rushed Yuvraj to Apollo hospital and he was later shifted to Ramaiah Hospital and admitted to the ICU. A senior officer said the accused are currently absconding and a special team has been formed to nab them. He said they are travelling from one state to another and none of them are using their mobile phones. Hence it has become difficult for the police to trace them, he added.

The police said that the CCTV had recorded the whole incident and the footage has been sent to FSL. After Mohammed Nalpad and Duniya Vijay cases, this is third such incident of VIP hooliganism reported in the city.
