BBMP may set up portal for information on road condition

Bengaluru: The BBMP on Friday assured the Karnataka High Court that it would also explore if a dedicated portal in relation to the road conditions could be provided.

The court was hearing the PIL filed in 2015 by one Vijayan Menon over poor condition of roads in and around Bengaluru.

Earlier, the BBMP had submitted to the court that the task is being regularly attended at. It later filed response to the second report of the Commission in relation to Malleswaram area.

It was also pointed out that notice inviting tenders has been issued on August 28 for setting up of hot mix plants and the last date of receipt of tenders is October 30.

However, the advocate for the petitioner submitted that as per the information gathered from different sources, several potholes and also several aspects related with potholes are yet to be attended to by the authorities concerned, including the BBMP and the BWSSB, and would be filing a comprehensive memo of suggestions and responses to it in a week.

Meanwhile BWSSB placed on record the response/ status report.

“At present, we are not making any other comment in the matter, but it would be expected of the authorities concerned to attend on all the tasks and aspects indicated in this petition as also the orders passed by this court and the reports made by the Commission,” the court observed.

The palike has also assured the court that the details relating to the process of attending on the complaints by the BBMP shall also be placed before it by way of an affidavit. After considering the submissions made by the Palike, the court has adjourned the matter to October 23.
