Telangana: Teachers face probe for their businesses

100 teachers under the radar for going against the rules.

Nizamabad: The education department has identified around 100 teachers in Nizamabad and Kamareddy district involved in conducting businesses, against the government service rules.

According to sources, an inquiry has been ordered against them. Reportedly, a section of government teachers have been involved in real estate, chits and finance, hotels and private school businesses.

Speaking to this newspaper, district education officer N. Rajesh said that an inquiry is being conducted against a few teachers in the district. Following the directives of the then district collector Yogita Rana, a confidential inquiry has been started in this regard, he said. “We are trying to get evidence against the errant teachers involved in businesses,” Mr Rajesh said.

A section of the teachers are engaged in businesses after school hours, while some are running their businesses even during school working hours. In view of this, some unidentified persons have lodged complaints with the state government providing details of the errant teachers in undivided Nizamabad district.

The General Administration Department had directed the collector to conduct inquiry in this regard. It is believed that the inquiry against the teachers will be completed soon and action will be initiated. For the purpose, officials are collecting information from reliable sources.
