Maharshi Valmiki Jayanti observed in east Godavari
Kakinada: Author of Hindu epic, Ramayana, Maharshi Valmiki’s Jayanti was celebrated as an official function at Mandal Praja Parishad office of Kakinada rural mandal on Thursday.
Kakinada Rural MLA Pilli Anantha Lakshmi said that Valmiki became a Maharishi from a hunter and his writings have influenced the society as a whole.
She said that everybody should take their life as an ideal for development, especially the backward, downtrodden people to improve their social and economic development.
She said that the state government has been conducting Valmiki Jayanti as an official function from the year 2014 and requested people to make use of the governments efforts in developing weaker sections of the society.
Presiding over the function, the joint collector-II J. Radha Krishna Murthy said that Valmiki taught moral values to the society through his writings and many stalwarts like Jyothirao Phule, Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar have fought for social reforms and implementation of documents of the government were aimed at developing an ideal society irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
