Hyderabad: 2 kids die of electric shock at function hall
Hyderabad: A wedding ceremony turned into a tragedy with the death of two teenagers due to the negligence of the function hall management. Two kids aged below five years hailing from Andhra Pradesh drowned in a water fountain in the function hall premises in LB Nagar.
The police said that the kids suffered an electric shock when they tried to play in the water fountain and drowned. The water fountain was decorated with electric bulbs for the marriage function.
A case for causing death due to negligence was registered against the hall manager and the management.
Sources said that the hall belonged to Chintala Surender Yadav, who is a leader of a political party. Shubham Function Hall is located in Nagole under the LB Nagar police station.
On Wednesday night, wedding ceremony of Ganta Seshu’s daughter was going on in the hall and around 1,000 guests were present in the hall.
A few families were from Krishna district in AP. While the elders were busy in the hall, the kids were playing in the premises. Ganta Jitender, 4, and his cousin Ganta Manaswini, 5, were playing at the fountain located on the right side of the hall.
“The kids fell into the fountain and drowned. Though the electric supply to the fountain was switched off, the kids died,” the police said.
The police said that the management did not take any precaution while supplying electricity to the fountain.
Though the water in the fountain was not more than two feet deep, the kids died immediately as they suffered an electric shock.
“We will write to the GHMC to get the details about the management of the hall,” said Mr K. Saidulu, SI from LB Nagar.
