Andhra Pradesh: White Paper on minorities welfare

He said TD was insulting Opposition leaders by not inviting them for programmes.

Guntur: Guntur East MLA of YSR Congress Md Mustafa alleged that the TD government was violating protocol rules and excluding Opposition legislators from official programmes. He demanded a White Paper on the steps taken by the TD government for the welfare of the minorities in the last three years.

He joined the dharna staged by Muslim Hakkula Porata Samithi JAC before the collectorate in Guntur on Thursday seeking direct loans to minority Muslims.

He said the AP State Minorities Finance Corporation conducted an awareness programme in Guntur on Thursday in his constituency, Guntur East, but did not invite him and did not publish his name in the invitation card.

He said the TD government was insulting the Opposition legislators by not inviting them to attend official programmes.

Mr Mustafa said there is no representation of Muslims in the AP Cabinet. “There is no minority leader in the TD politburo too,” he pointed out and said the minorities are being neglected by the TD.

He said the TD did not work for the development of the minorities in the last three years, he said

MHPS state president Sk Khaja Vali recalled that TD promised about providing direct loans with 50 per cent subsidy to minorities through APSMFC in its election manifesto but forgot the same after coming to power.

He also reminded that the TD promised Rs 5 lakh interest-free loan to each unemployed youth of the minority communities to enable self-employment. “But even that promised has not been fulfilled so far,” he said.

Guntur west Congress in-charge Savaram Rohit lamented that SCs, STs and BCs were not able to get loans due to the negligent attitude of the bankers and sought direct subsidy loans to minorities.

CPI district secretary J. Ajay Kumar demanded implementation of recommendations of Sachar Committee and Ranganath Misra committee for minorities. Later, the minority leaders submitted a memorandum of their demands to the officials at the Collectorate.
