Telangana: Muddy water in some areas
Hyderabad: Colonies in Karkhana, Mud Fort, Picket, Lothkunta and Bolaram received muddy, undrinkable water on Wednesday. An assistant engineer from Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) water department said, “Wednesday’s supply was very turbid and many complaints were received about it. SCB was earlier being supplied Krishna water, however, now it is being supplied Godavari water. Consumers have complained of colour change and mud. Also because of the recent rains, the water is muddy. We have instructed our staff regarding maintenance of the reservoirs. There will be turbidity till the pipeline is cleared of mud”.
The city water board said, “HMWS&SB is supplying potable drinking water from Godavari for the Twin Cities through 3000mm diameter MS pipeline to the Ghanpur balancing reservoir. From there the water is being distributed to the city through two ring mains of 1800mm diameter MS pipelines. Of these, one ring main is laid from Ghanpur reservoir to the Sainikpuri reservoir, which is completed and is being commissioned. The water supplied through this pipeline may contain slight turbidity for a few days. The water is suitable for all general purposes. It may be boiled, filtered or may be disinfected and used before consumption.”
