State first, then water for Tamil Nadu: Siddaramaiah

Water being given to TN after slaking state's thirst: CM

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said water was being released to Tamil Nadu only after saving the required quantity to provide drinking water to citizens in the state.

Speaking to reporters after calling on the senior pontiff of Siddaganga Math in Tumakuru district, Shivakumara Swami on Wednesday, he said the Cauvery row was not new but crops up only when rain fails. As per the Supreme Court directive, the state was releasing water by storing the quantum required to meet drinking water requirements of people of Bengaluru, Mysuru and other places.

Taking a dig at BJP for attacking the Congress government, the CM said that BJP came to power accidentally. The wrongdoings during their tenure were still haunting saffron party leaders. So, they were making baseless allegations against his government. the CM claimed.

Replying to a question, he said Governor Vajubhai Vala has returned the Real Estate (amendment) Bill 2016 seeking some clarifications. Steps have been taken to clarify every doubt raised by the governor, the Chief Minister added.
