Cyberabad motorists pending challans refused at Lok Adalat

Mr Ranganath said over 30,000 pending challans were paid on the first day.

Hyderabad: The first day of the three-day Lok Adalat conducted for motorists to pay their pending challans was marred by confusion as challans issued in Cyberabad were not accepted after some time on Wednesday.

Early on, Cyberabad challans were accepted at a few counters following after DCP, Traffic, A.V. Ranganath requested the Lok Adalat to treat Hyderabad and Cyberabad as one traffic unit. But by afternoon many defaulters were turned back as Lok Adalat members at several counters did not accept Cyberabad challans.

“I have three pending challans issued by the Madhapur traffic police station. I was asked to come back on Thursday when the problem would be sorted out,” said Mr Ch. Karunakar, a motorist

Traffic cops said that the court had given permission for payment of pending challans issued in Hyderabad district and not in Ranga Reddy of which Cyberabad is a part.

Mr Ranganath said over 30,000 pending challans were paid on the first day. “We will request the magistrates and Lok Adalat members to accept challans issued anywhere in Greater Hyderabad. We hope that challans of Cyberabad would be accepted from Thursday,” he said.
