CHIKKAMAGALURU: Late Chikkamagaluru DySP Kallappa Handibag has got a clean chit from the Criminal Investigation Department, which filed a report before the JMFC Court, Chikkamgaluru, in connection with the kidnapping of Tejas Gowda that allegedly led to the suicide of Mr Handibag. The CID submitted the report on October 3.
The CID report states that Mr Handibag (in pic) was not involved in the kidnapping or the payment of ransom for the release of private financier Tejas Gowda, sources said. The victim Tejas Gowda had alleged that Mr Handibag had received the ransom amount for his release.
After an FIR was filed against him on July 4 at Basavanahalli police station, Mr Handibag had hanged himself at the house of one of his relatives at Muragod of Belagavi the next day. The main accused in the kidnapping case, Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) leader Praveen Khandya, is still at large.
Sources told Deccan Chronicle that the CID report mentions the names of Abhishek, Naveen Shetty, Nataraj, Pradeep, Praveen Khandya, Joy Milton, Jeevan Kumar, Yashas Gowda, Keerthi, Vijaykumar and Ashwin Shetty.
