AP's Kalamkari in Delhi's Crafts Bazaar

Vijayawada: The Kalamkari art of Andhra Pradesh is to be showcased at the Crafts Bazaar being held on sidelines of G20 Summit in New Delhi from September 8 to September 10.

The Crafts Bazaar will be showcasing handicraft products from different parts of India, with special focus on One District One Product, GI-tagged items and products crafted by women and tribal artists.

Delegates taking part in the summit are expected to visit the Crafts Bazaar and purchase products from it.

Around 30 states and UTs, apart from six central agencies, including Khadi Village and Industries Commission, are participating in the Crafts Bazaar.

AP’s Kalamkari art has originated in two districts – Srikalahasthi in Chittoor and Machilipatnam in Krishna district. Both have distinct styles. Srikalahasthi uses a bamboo pen while Machilipatnam is primarily block printing with minimal usage of kalam
