MAYILADUTHURAI: In a strange incident, a man allegedly attempting to break into a house in a bid to rob, accidentally fell from the second floor of the building he was trying to enter into, collapsed and died on the spot in Mayiladuthurai town in the wee hours of Thursday.

Police said the deceased Manikandan, alias 'Stunt' Manikandan, 43, of Siddhar Kaadu village near here, was already wanted in several criminal cases and a history-sheeter earlier booked under the Goondas Act.

The neighbour of the house, one Kamaraj, sleeping on his open terrace, on hearing an unusual noise woke up to notice a dead man in a pool of blood next door. He immediately alerted the local police.

On information, police rushed to the spot and removed the poor accused person’s body to the Mayiladuthurai government hospital for post-mortem and are investigating.
