Kozhikode: Childcare centres to get a facelift
KOZHIKODE: Childcare centres here are getting modernised with mobile app-backed world-class services.
The project The Child Rearing and Development - a Life Cycle Elucidation or The CRADLE by the district administration promises "an efficient future generation."
The CRADLE is a sister project of 'Our Kozhikode, let's join together'.
In the first phase, modernisation of 44 Anaganawadis in Koyilandy Municipality and nine panchayats are getting integrated into the system. Anganwadis will be made more child-friendly enriching their physical and mental development in an eco-friendly way.
Pre-reading and pre-writing books as part of 'Grow and Enlighten with Multiple Skills', GEMS, are being prepared according to the syllabus for pre-schooling, after scientific consultation of Montessori experts.
They will get an improved diet in 300 centres to curb malnutrition among children, provided by ten local self-governing bodies on a pilot basis. Nutritious meal three times a day will include porridge and biryani.
Master training in food preparation for supervisors from local self-governing bodies was provided by government food craft institute in association with panchayat.
Milk, curd, eggs, fruits and vegetables are part of the diet provided with the assistance of Kudumbashree.
IMHANS and Ridhi Foundation has extended a helping hand in the project to identify disabilities in children in the early stage, child abuse, mental distresses among pregnant women and teenagers and ensure effective parenting.
The mobile application is also being prepared to educate women and children about their rights and defence mechanisms.
