Hyderabad: The Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday told Ms Hemalatha, wife of rights activist Varavara Rao, that it would examine her request to allow a doctor to treat her husband, who was under house arrest, if she filed an additional affidavit.
A division bench comprising Justice C.V. Nagarjuna Reddy and Justice P. Kesava Rao was dealing with a petition filed by Ms Hemalatha seeking to declare the arrest of Mr Varavara Rao as illegal.
Mr D. Suresh Kumar, counsel appearing for the petitioner, told the court that the police was causing inconvenience to the residents of the apartment by deploying a huge force and was preventing the family doctor from treating Mr Varavara Rao.
He submitted that the petition against the arrest of the civil right activists including Mr Varavara Rao would come up for hearing before the Supreme Court on Thursday.
