Hyderabad: Experts chide forceful enrollments

The parent is not only a spectator but also has to mould the character of the child.

Hyderabad: Parents these days are looking at transaction, not education and learning for their children, experts in the fiend of education said. Most parents were misleading children towards their own personal aspirations and students were being forcefully enrolled into courses even though they were not interested in them.

“Earlier teachers used to take decisions with regard to higher education and career planning of students but now parents and peer influence are playing a role,’’ said Prof. Srinivas Acharyaa.

Principal Anjali Razdan of P. Obul Reddy Public School said, “Parents would trust teachers completely with their wards.The situation is different now, burdened with the complexities of life, cut throat competition, demanding technology, and a paradigm shift in the attitude of all stakeholders.”

Despite all the developments, parents still have a role. Senior educationist Prof. Chukka Ramaiah said, “The parent is not only a spectator but also has to mould the character of the child.”
