Hyderabad: Demanding wage hike, permanent employment, equal pay for equal work and health cards the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation's outsourcing employees went on a flash strike on Wednesday.
TRSKV President U. Gopal demanded the government to regularise the outsourcing employees, increase salaries on par with the electricity employees, provide house sites and health cards for permanent employees. He said that around 1,000 workers from sanitation, veterinary and entomology wings participated in the strike and it would be further intensified if the government failed to agree to their demand which was also a poll promise.
Similarly, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board employees issued strike notice demanding regularisation of duties, increase of salaries on par with electricity employees, equal pay for equal work, 50 per cent weightage in water posts and 20 lakh insurance premium to all outsourcing employees. AITUC state general secretary V Ratnakar Rao said that the strike would continue until they get assurance from either government or administration.
