Hyderabad: A speeding car crashed into a tree by the roadside in Banjara Hills in the wee hours of Tuesday. The car driver abandoned his vehicle and fled from the scene. Police suspect that the driver was drunk at the time of the incident.
Sources said the driver was identified as Sharath Chandra, the son of an accounts officer of the Nellore Municipal Corporation.
The vehicle, bearing the registration number AP 29 6066, was proceeding from Road #86 of Jubilee Hills towards a TV news channel office. When the Red Volkswagen Polo reached the Hakeem Baba Dargah area the driver lost control and the vehicle crashed into a roadside tree. Immediately after the accident the driver and his friends left the vehicle and fled from the spot. Eye witnesses said they could have been drunk.
Banjara Hills police said that so far there no case has been registered regarding the incident, and nobody has come forward to claim the vehicle. “We will find details about the car, identify the driver and take action,” said an official from Banjara Hills police station.
