Hyderabad: The organisers of a Ganesh pandal had tense moments as their idol got stuck under the cantilever of Saroornagar Metro Station, opposite Dilsukhnagar bus depot, on Monday night.
“The Ganesh idol was stuck under the cantilever at Saroornagar Metro Station at 12.30 am on Monday. The crown of the statue was stuck in the design,” a Metro Rail official said.
Though the idol could pass through a few cantilevers initially, it got stuck near Dilsukhnagar bus depot as the vehicle moved towards the end of the beam which was lower in height. The revellers tried to move it but in vain. Finally they had to cut the crown of the statue and move it.
Construction labourers reported the incident to Hyderabad Metro Rail on Tuesday morning. “There is no damage to the structure. There has been some abrasion due to the idol’s movement but it did not affect the structure,” he said.
