Hyderabad: The Telangana health department will soon launch a maternity out-patient ward and normal delivery services at the Cantonment Hospital in Bollarum.
Facilities for C-section deliveries, an NICU, and incubators for newborns will be installed in the second phase of works.
Health minister C. Laxma Reddy has announced the restoration of facilities at the 30-bedded Bollarum Hospital which is under the purview of the Cantonment Board. The hospital has an operation theatre, labour rooms, and laboratories which can be made functional through extensive cleaning and sterilisation, which will take a week. According to sources in the health department, gynaecologists, paediatricians and anesthesiologists will be deputed to the hospital by the state.
Officials say that the minister has directed the department to finalise plans and launch the maternity services at the earliest. At present, there are two full-time doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, and pathologists to run the hospital.
