Two of three vaccine centres in SCB limits locked
Hyderabad: Two out of the three Covid-19 vaccination centres in the Secunderabad Cantonment remain locked due to lack of vaccine stock while the one at the Multipurpose Function Hall in Marredpally is functional. The two government-run facilities have been shut for over a week.
“People of Rasoolpura received the first dose of Covaxin over a month ago. The centre has been closed since then. Officials say they have no fresh stock. The families there hail from financially weak backgrounds and cannot afford going to a private medical centre,” said Nayeem Pasha from Rasoolpura.
Residents of Vasavi Nagar rued that the shortage of the vaccine was forcing them to approach private centres for their jabs at high rates.
“A social media message said there is no vaccine stock and it is best to stay indoors,” said Nathalina Parmar, adding that the shortage was evident only in the cantonment board limits, not the GHMC limits.
“Sometimes, they have the vaccine, but it is not the same that we took as the first dose. We cannot mix the medication,” said Pasha.
