Thiruvananthapuram: Actor Mohanlal launched Amrita-ViswaSanthi healthcare project which sponsors heart surgery of destitute children, at Amrita hospital on Monday.
The project is implemented in association with Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences and ViswaSanthi Charitable Foundation started by the actor in the name of his parents.
In the first phase the foundation will aid children in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jammu and Kashmir, and Lakshadweep.
The Foundation distributed a financial aid worth Rs. 2 crore in Kerala alone, Mohanlal said.
