IMD changes its forecast, warns of very heavy rains

Hyderabad: Brace for more rains in the next couple of days. Contrary to its earlier predictions, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that it is very likely that the state might receive heavy to very heavy rains at isolated places on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The IMD had previously said the monsoon take a pause for two days and resume on August 8.

Asked about the reason for reversing the prediction, an IMD expert, “There were no signs of rains till August 8. However, with the formation of a low pressure in the North Bay of Bengal, the weather has changed. Rain is now indicated in the next couple of days at isolated places.”

On Monday as well, there was light to moderate rainfall in a few districts like Vikarabad, Jayashankar Bhupalapally, Sangareddy.

The average rainfall recorded in the state was 2.7 mm. The city recorded 2.7 mm rainfall at isolated places. The sky remained cloudy for most of the day.

The minimum and maximum temperatures in the city stood at 23.6ºC and 29.9ºC respectively.
