Hyderabad: Protests mark doctors’ dissent

Hyderabad: The health condition of the three students who are on an indefinite hunger strike to protest against the National Medical Commission Bill is deteriorating according to the Telangana Junior Doctors Association.

The students — Sai Ram, Nikhil B and Kotesh S — began their hunger strike after the passage of the NMC Bill in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. Kotesh was on Sunday night admitted in Osmania General Hospital while the other two students are at the hunger strike camp.

The TJUDA members held a meeting at Osmania Medical College and said the strike will continue. Junior doctors will boycott both elective and emergency services and will stage a protest at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park.

Medicos at the Gandhi Hospital again carried out a ‘funeral procession’ on Monday carrying the effigy of Union health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan.
