Stay arranged for pilgrims' relatives

The State Government had planned to move out the offices in its bid to ensure more space for the Haj House.

Hyderabad: For the first time, the TS Haj Committee has made arrangements for the stay of relatives of Haj pilgrims who come from far off places to send off their family members for Haj. Chairman Mohd Masiullah Khan had hired a function hall opposite the Haj House and arrangements for the stay of 350 persons have been made.

"Families from far off places come to the city for sending off their relatives embarking on the pilgrimage.

In the Haj House building, we have arrangements to accommodate about 500 pilgrims at a time. So there is a crunch of space for the relatives here.

To tide over the problem I hired a function hall", said Mr Khan. The Haj House is a 11-storeyed building which is occupied by various wings of the minority welfare department, including TS Urdu Academy, TS Minorities Finance Corporation, TS Wakf Board, a library and TS Haj Committee amongst others.

During the Haj season, the TS Haj Committee puts up a temporary pandal in the open parking area and takes over two floors of a building adjacent to the Haj House.

The State Government had planned to move out the offices in its bid to ensure more space for the Haj House. However, not much has progressed on the alternative.
