Chandrababu Naidu invited to Kurnool contest
Kurnool: Amid speculation that the TG family would continue to fight with TDP to get Kurnool Assembly seat in the next general elections, Mr T.G. Bharath, chairman and managing director of Rayalaseem industries, said that Kurnool city would develop if if AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu contests and wins from the constituency. He said that there was no significant development in the city in the past four years.
Mr S.V. Mohan Reddy, a relative of AP tourism minister Bhuma Akhila Priya, was declared as the TDP candidate for Kurnool assembly seat by IT minister Nara Lokesh at a public meeting last month.
The announcement had shocked Rajya Sabha MP T.G. Venkatesh, who had been looking after the constituency for several years.
Mr Venkatesh had earlier said earlier that the candidate for Kurnool assembly seat would be declared only after the schedule for the election was announced.
Mr Bharath, who also spent a substantial amount of time and money on several social service activities in the constituency, also appears to have decided not to take the rejection easily.
Bharath, speaking at a youth forum in the city on Sunday, said that TD has a tremendous vote in the district. But this could be leveraged only when Chief Minister himself contests from Kurnool . He assured that all the 14 Assembly constituencies in the district would be won by TDP if Naidu comes to Kurnool.
