Tamil Nadu likely to witness rainfall for next two days

Weather blogger predicts monsoon to intensify from August 9.

Chennai: Short spells of rainfall drenching the state would continue for the next two days due to the convection activity. Majority of the districts in Tamil Nadu is witnessing pleasant weather in the afternoons followed by rainfall during the night as is the characteristic of the convection rainfall.

The convection activity along with the strong westerlies is the result of the rainfall in coastal Andhra Pradesh and Northern Tamil Nadu, said weather experts.

The day temperature at Chennai, Nungambakkam was 34.8 degree Celsius while Nungambakkam recorded 33.1 degrees, according to the officials from the Regional Meteorological Department. Nungambakkam station received moderate rainfall of 3.5 cm while Meenambakkam received a mere 4 mm.

Explaining the rainfall activity weather blogger K Srikanth said, “As the southwest monsoon is weak, the movement of westerlies is slow. There is thus enough time for the development of the clouds which is the result of intense bursts of rainfall.”

Though the rainfall activity in Kerala is weak coastal Andhra Pradesh including Vijayawada would witness moderate trains in the next two days, he added.
He also predicted the intensification of monsoon from August 9.
