Securitymen recovered bodies of three Maoists in uniforms and arms and ammunition at the encounter site.

Bhopal: The ongoing “Operation Monsoon”, launched by security forces to flush out Leftwing insurgents in Chhattisgarh’s conflict zone of Bastar on Friday led to killing of three Naxal commanders, including a woman, together carrying bounty of Rs 18 lakh, police said.

Three Maoists, identified as Nishant, an area committee member, Manki alias Geeta, member of Indravati National Park border company of CPI (Maoist), and Soma alias Ajeet, gunman of Naxal commander Papa Rao, were gunned down in an encounter with security personnel in the Kacheghat area under Farsapal police limits under Dantewada district, local superintendent of police (SP) Kamal Lochan Kashyap said.

According to information available, while Nishant carried a reward of Rs 8 lakh on his head, Manki and Soma had bounties of rupees five lakh each declared on them. Securitymen later recovered bodies of three Maoists in uniforms and arms and ammunition at the encounter site.
