Telangana Home Guard saves 11th life

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat said Eshwaraiah\'s name would be recommended for the Prime Minister\'s medal

Hyderabad: A 45-year-old Home Guard once again saved the life of a distressed person on Monday. He has so far rescued 11 persons in six months, police said.

The Home Guard, Manthri Eshwaraiah, joined the police 20 years ago and has served with the Kandukur, Maheshwavaram and Ibrahimpatan police. Posted with the Saroornagar police two years ago, Eshwaraiah is in-charge of the lake outpost.

On Monday, at about 3 pm, Eswaraiah saw a man attempting to commit suicde in the Saroornagar lake. The victim, Kondula Kiran Kumar, 27, was drunk when he tried to take his life. Eshwaraiah jumped into the water and rescued Kumar.

"My utmost satisfaction comes from service to the people," Eshwariah said, “I will continue this service throughout my life."

Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh M. Bhagwat appreciated the work of Eshwaraiah and said his name would be recommended for the Prime Minister's medal. The commissioner had recently presented a cash award to Eshwaraiah.
