Kochi: In-patient facility at CCRC by July-end

A six-storey structure is being constructed in the first phase that will have 400 IP beds and facilities for nearly 500 OPs daily.

Kochi: District Collector S. Suhas on Friday directed officials of the Cochin Cancer Research Centre (CCRC) to start providing in-patient treatment facilities by the end of this month. Currently, work of sterilization of the operation theatre is going on.

“Upon completion of the work, there will be facility for in-patient treatment for six persons. A full-fledged in-patient wing with 20 beds will be ready by December,” said Suhas, who is also the Special Officer of the CCRC project.

The development will help the centre facilitate better treatment in cases of breast and gynecologic cancer that affects neck and head among others.

The official added that construction of new building will be completed by December 2020 and the requirement of additional staff will be met by June next year.

The collector on Friday inspected the construction site and discussed the work progress with officials in-charge including Cancer Centre Direc-tor Dr Moni Abraham Kuriakose and Superint-endent Dr P.G. Balagopal
