MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha caught in the middle as party's factions fight it out

NIZAMABAD: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter, Nizamabad MP Kalvakuntla Kavitha, is facing the toughest situation in her political career, with rivals both within the party and outside. She is finding it difficult to sort out differences among TRS cadre. Her ‘soft attitude’ is said to be fuelling problems in the district. She has been careful not to lose her temper, and has dealt with party leaders courteously.

Differences among TRS leaders in the Nizamabad Rural Assembly constituency led to a demand for action against party Rajya Sabha member D. Srinivas and MLC R. Bhupathi Reddy. The TRS is divided into three groups led by MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, Mr Srinivas and Mr Bhupathi Reddy in the constituency. The TRS cadre is in dilemma over whom they should support. Ms Kavitha, a key leader, has been unable to convince the other leaders. The issue has reached party supremo, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

In Armoor, TRS leaders are demanding action against the husband of Armoor municipal chairperson Swathi Singh Bablu, who is accused in a gold theft case. Municipal counsellers, including those from the TRS, have demanded a no-confidence motion against Bodhan municipal chairman A. Yellaiah of TRS. Besides, TRS Dharpally MPP president Immadi Gopi’s attack on a woman over a land dispute has affected the party’s image. “Don’t depend on the feedback of ineligible persons. Party’s senior leaders should cross-check on the feedback before taking action against leaders,” said Bhupathi Reddy.
