Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law varsity to get new VC soon
Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Dr Ambedkar Law University to get new Vice-Chancellor within a month, law minister C.Ve. Shanmugam said here on Wednesday.
He inaugurated the admission counselling for five-year honours law degrees at School of Excellence in Law at the University. The School of Excellence in Law is offering BA LLB (Hons), BCom LLB (Hons) and BCA LLB (Hons) courses.
For the total 626 seats, the university has received 2,924 applications. Of these applications, 404 applications were rejected.
While inaugurating the counselling, minister C.Ve. Shanmugam gave the admission letters to top 10 rankers.
Speaking to reporters after the event he said, “This year the five years law degrees had 99% as cut-off marks. This shows that the School of Excellence in Law is regarded as one of the best law schools in the country.”
On the appointment of new Vice-Chancellor, he said, “All the preliminary works to appoint the new Vice-Chancellor is over. The V-C will be appointed in a month’s time.”
For more than six months the V-C post is lying vacant. In the absence of Vice-Chancellor, the convenor committee headed by the director of legal studies N.S. Santhosh Kumar is managing the routine affairs of the university.
