P T Thomas slams Pinarayi Vijayan for misguiding' probe team
Kochi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan’s statement that no criminal conspiracy involved in the actor abduction case derailed the investigation, P.T Thomas MLA has alleged. Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the statement that the crime was hatched by the prime accused Pulsar Suni alone sabotaged the probe.
“The state police failed in completing the interrogation even after five months. Though the police team is efficient, their hands are tied. They are conducting the probe on the lines of his statement,” he said. "They could have got more details and a clear picture of those involved if Suni was quizzed promptly. But the chief minister’s open statement misguided them and changed the focus of interrogation."
"They got a fresh lease when T.P. Senkumar took charge as police chief,” he said. Rajeev refutes PT’s comments. Meanwhile, CPM Ernakulam district secretary and former MP P. Rajeev has refuted the charges raised by Mr Thomas against him in connection with sexual assault of a female actor. Responding to the charge that Mr Rajeev had reached the spot many hours after the incident was brought to his attention, the CPM leader said he had contacted the police officials concerned immediately after getting information.
“I first contacted Thrissur range IG Ajithkumar and then the Ernakulam rural SP. The Ernakulam rural SP came to know of the incident after I called him,” he said. Asked whether he was watching a cinema when the incident was reported to him, Mr Rajeev said in a sarcastic vein that he would not have gone for the movie if he had prior knowledge of the incident.
