NBF seeks to vacate stay on NGT order
The Namma Bengaluru Foundation (NBF), has filed interlocutory applications before the High Court, seeking to vacate an earlier order of the High Court which has stayed the proceedings of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) in the case relating to Bellandur Lake.
The high court had stayed the proceedings of NGT following a petition filed Shashi Distilleries, which had challenged the NGT, New Delhi order on the ground that it has passed the order without jurisdiction as the petition regarding pollution in Bellandur Lake has to be heard by the NGT in the Southern Zone Bench in Chennai. The NGT, New Delhi on April 19, 2017, directed the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board to close down industries that were polluting the lake. The applications filed by NBF states that NGT, New Delhi has the jurisdiction to hear the matter.
