Union Minister Pulls Up RWS Officials for Non-Supply of Water to A Konduru Village

Vijayawada: Union minister of state for health and family welfare, Bharati Pawar, has pulled upon the rural water supply officials here for non-supply of potable water to a Lambada Thanda at A. Konduru village in G. Konduru mandal of NTR district.

The Union minister visited the thanda here on Tuesday and the locals complained to him that they were getting supply of potable water only once in two days. The RWS official on the spot claimed they were being supplied water daily. The minister lost her cool and reprimanded the official for trying to mislead her.

Bharati Pawar visited the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme Centre at A. Konduru village and interacted with the patients. She expressed concern over the rise in the number of kidney patients and asked the officials concerned as to why they were not taking any remedial steps.

Later, she said that a new dialysis centre was started in the village recently in the wake of the rise in the number of such patients and promised financial assistance from the Centre if the state government sought it, under the Jal Jeevan Mission, to address shortage of drinking water in the village.

The minister also visited the PHC at G. Konduru village and interacted with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Martru Vandana Yojana about any difficulties they were facing in the matter of availing the scheme and lauded the PHC personnel and officials of the women development and child welfare department for implementing the scheme properly.

Bharati Pawar said she would arrange remittance of amount from the Centre directly into the bank accounts of beneficiary mothers of the scheme through DBT. Under the scheme in NTR district, 57,000 beneficiaires were given a total of '24 crore as assistance.
