Relief as GHMC limits record less than 200 positive cases

The last time the corporation limits reported less than 200 cases was on March 31

HYDERABAD: For the first time in nearly two months, new Covid-19 cases fell below the 200 mark in GHMC limits. It stood at 184, even as tests conducted statewide fell by 40,431 on Sunday. The state recorded 1,436 fresh infections, the lowest single day spike in two months.

The last time the corporation limits reported less than 200 cases was on March 31. Incidentally, on that day too, the daily cases were 184.

Though the number of cases is directly proportional to the number of tests done, there was still some cheer with Kamareddy district becoming the first in many days to report zero cases.

Irrespective of the number of tests, a steady decline in active cases — the number of people undergoing treatment for Covid-19 either in hospitals or at home while in isolation – points to the overall decrease in daily cases as per official data released by the health department.

Compared to 33,254 such cases on June 1, on Sunday – June 6 – the state had 29,208 such cases. On March 31 when GHMC had 184 new cases, the same as on Sunday, the number of active cases in the state was 56,122.
