4 minors of a family drown in quarry

He said that one child was aged 17, two were aged 15 and another was aged 10 years.

Four children, all aged between 10 and 17 years, who went for a swim in a quarry at Rudraram village of Sangareddy district drowned on Wednesday, as they slipped deeper into the waters. The children were all cousins and hailing from Alwal, said the police.

The children had been to their relative’s house at Rudraram village for the summer vacation. The children were identified as Govardhan, Vishnuvardhan, Anand, and Nandini, residents of Balaji Nagar in Alwal.

Patancheru inspector P. Naresh said that on Wednesday, the cousins went for a swim at a quarry containing stagnated water but did not return home. The locals who saw the children drowning, alerted the police and in turn, their parents were informed about the mishap.

He said that one child was aged 17, two were aged 15 and another was aged 10 years.

The bodies of the children were fished out with the help of professional swimmers and sent for the autopsy at a government hospital. A case under section 174 of CrPC has been registered for the probe, said the inspector.
