Zero carbon buildings' in Kochi soon
The programme will be initiated in association with World Resources Institute India (WRI India).

KOCHI: The Kochi Corporation which announced 'zero carbon buildings' in the city in its annual budget for 2018-19 will now develop a roadmap and action plan to make all buildings carbon-neutral. The programme will be initiated in association with World Resources Institute India (WRI India). The corporation will organise a kickoff workshop on Thursday to initiate the roadmap development process.
The objectives of the workshop include communicating the corporation's commitment towards achieving transition of all new buildings to ZCBs, identify and engage a diverse set of stakeholders who are important in preparation of the ZCB roadmap, discuss project tasks, activities and timelines, assess data availability and need for development and implementation of roadmap actions and identify partners who are interested in assisting the city to achieve ZCB vision.
A zero carbon building is an energy efficient building that, through design strategies and energy efficiency measures, reduces its energy demand and then uses renewable energy generated on-site or outside its premises to meet the balance of its energy needs.
