Kannur International Airport Limited to hold meeting of major airlines
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: As part of wooing more airlines to the upcoming Kannur international airport, the Kannur International Airport Limited (KIAL) will soon hold a meeting with all major international and domestic airlines. KIAL managing director V Thulasidas said that though a couple of airlines have already committed to operate from the greenfield airport, efforts were being made to have a more regular schedule. Hence a meeting of top officials of international and domestic airlines would be held to highlight the potential of the airport, he said.Jet Airways and Go Air have assured to operate to Abu Dhabi and Dammam from Kannur.
Meanwhile, a pre-licensing inspection of the airport was conducted by a team of officials from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation from May 22 to 24. KIAL had requested for the pre-licencing check to ensure that there was no shortcomings during the licensing process. The airport infrastructure, including the operational area, air traffic control and security need were evaluated .
