Chennai: Man hacked by 3 in broad daylight
Chennai: A 63-year-old man, a relative of history sheeter, Chenna alias Chennakesavalu, was hacked to death by a three-member gang in broad daylight on Tuesday.
The incident happened hardly 100 metres away from his residence at Thiru Vi Ka Nagar in Pulianthope.
According to police sources, the man identified as Radhakrishnan was having tea seated close to the shop at around 5.30 am when the trio armed with sickles hacked him to death and fled the scene.
Alarmed, the tea stall owner rushed to the police to inform about the murder. The cops then visited the spot and sent the body to Kilpauk Medical College and hospital. They suspect previous enmity to be the reason for the murder. They feel the murder could be linked between two groups who wanted to establish their supremacy in the locality.
Radhakrishnan’s family members suspect the associates of another history-sheeter Arcot Suresh to be behind the murder.
Radhakrishnan stayed along with his son Sampath, pursuing law. He told police that his father was continuously facing threats from the associates of Suresh for the past one week.
Due to this, they had also decided to shift the place, but for some reason Radhakrishnan decided to stay back. He added that despite being Chenna’s relative, his father was in good terms with police and was never involved in his cases.
According to preliminary investigations, history-sheeter Chenna alias Chennakesavalu was murdered by a 10-member gang, who was later identified as associated of Arcot Suresh, in 2010 at the court complex when he arrived for a trial in an explosive case.
Lately, Suresh and his associates moved to Pulianthope and in a bid to prove supremacy, they hacked Radhakrishnan to death, it is alleged.
