Miyapur land scam: Raids on brokers, politicians, others

Officials have sought the government's permission to extend the scope of raids and investigation to bring the irregularities to light.

Hyderabad: The ongoing raids on the sub-registrar offices ordered by Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao in the backdrop of Miyapur land scam, are likely to be extended further.

Raids that were confined to revenue and registration officials in the past one week will now be extended to employees’ associations, leaders in revenue and registration departments, private document writers, brokers and politicians who are suspected to have formed a network and nexus to grab government lands.

The ACB and CID teams that are investigating the case and conducting raids are regularly updating the Chief Minister's Office on the findings of the raids.

An interim report regarding this was submitted to the CM on Monday. Official sources said that the interim report indicated the involvement of private document writers, brokers, local politicians and certain employees guised as employees’ association representatives.

The officials have sought the government’s permission to extend the scope of raids and investigation to bring the irregularities to light. The CM is learnt to have approved this instantly and have asked the ACB and CID teams to expedite the case and book the culprits.

“There is no going back on raids or investigations at this stage. You will be given a free hand to probe irregularities and book the culprits. The government wants to put an end to irregularities and corruption in revenue and registration departments once and for all. The government will initiate stringent action against all those involved in these scams. This will be an eye-opener for others in the future too.” the CM said to the investigating departments. He directed CID teams to coordinate with ACB and ensure that the investigation is completed in the next two weeks.
