Miyapur land scam: Land registered to avail metro compensation

The investigation officials found that the Sale Agreements'made by the accused persons in Miyapur Land Scam did not have any boundary.

Hyderabad: Investigative officials suspect that Goldstone Prasad had registered the controversial Miyapur lands on benami names to claim compensation for the ongoing metro works.

The Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited had deposited Rs 198 crore with the High Court in 2011 towards compensation for the land acquisition at Metro depot and terminal. As per the rules of land acquisition, the owners would get the compensation amount.

The proposed land was disputed and the matter was with the Supreme Court of India. The investigation officials found that the ‘Sale Agreements’made by the accused persons in Miyapur Land Scam did not have any boundary. Due to this reason, officials suspect that the entire episode was staged to avail compensation by the HMRL.

While the local police and the Anti-Corruption Bureau are investigating into the matter, the accused persons including the family of P.S. Prasad have fled away. The police have deputed eight teams to nab the accused.
